It is a way for me to " check for nonverbal expression of feelings, determine who interacts with whom, grasp how participants communicate with each other, and check for how much time is spent on various activities " (SCHMUCK, 1997). I will also observe how well the employees know the safety rules and regulations, and if they know how to work safely. Observation will give me an understanding on the lack of knowledge on workplace, and it is the right way to collect data for my study. Observation will also help in coming up with research questions. Focus Groups I think I will also use focus groups as a way to gather more information that can also be used in my research on workplace safety. Having a group leader conduct the meeting to collect data on subject at hand can also help by answering research question with data gathered. This method is also helpful to gather data when observation becomes difficult. This method can also gather large amounts of data in a short time. An advantage to using focus groups is that the researcher will get the data they need because it targets my direct subject of workplace safety. Interviews I also plan to use interviews because they can provide me with a deeper understanding of how well individuals know about workplace safety. Interviews are an appropriate way for me to gather data on my research. The interview will be one-on-one with each employee, and if employee is not at work the interview can be conducted by phone. Surveys I plan to use paper surveys to gather data that is not available from other sources. Using survey data compliments current data from secondary sources. Surveys that I use will also be anonymous so that employees will feel free to be more honest. The information needed to make the workplace program is truly based on honest answers so yes I will be using surveys to gather data needed for this research. Not only will surveys help gathering data to help develop a workplace safety program, but it will help in continuing to improve that program. Especially, if one student is an auditory learner, while another is a visual learner. Each student needs a fair chance at passing inclusion classes. Not only does the regular education teacher need to communicate with the inclusion specialist about accommodations, but also must keep the specialist up to date regarding the student’s progress. By law, the inclusion specialist is to document when the students are progressing or regressing in their academic studies.This process should be done twice per marking period. If the current accommodations are working, then the student may continue at pace. When ownership is seen in the classroom, this makes the class feel divided. Tutoring should be geared toward the students in the inclusion program; however, it should be open for all students to get extra help. Another form of tutoring that is less visible consists of carbon copy paper and a kind regular education student.For students of inclusion who have a difficult time writing notes and listening at the same time, the teacher should give carbon copy paper to one of the oral skilled students to write the class notes. At the end of each class, the regular education student gives the carbon copy to the student who needs the notes. This allows the student to listen more to what the teacher is saying and then read the notes later for clearer understanding. Mrs. Smith sometimes finds i t a difficult task because of the structured curriculum that she has to stick to. It is her job to ensure that she is helping all of her students to succeed by evaluating her lesson plans, changing teaching strategies, and collaborating with other teachers. Administration Terry S. , an assistant principal in the Plymouth – Canton community school district, supports inclusion and values the role this form of education plays in the educational environment.Terry believes that inclusion not only promotes independence in students with special needs, it promotes a sense of acceptance from peers. Fourth, Tagg council must be ready to embrace the impacts of laws such as detention of illegal immigrants and punishment of law breakers by citizens. The impacts will vary from public resistance and demonstrations to establishment of detainee camps and correction institutions for the law breakers (Roy Sideras, 2006). The council will therefore need to establish related facilities to cater for the impacts. Philosophically, the ideologies that support egocentric attitude among citizens will be forfeited in Tagg. Native citizens must also be taught to embrace diversity of views in terms of social norms, religion and other aspects if the island is to remain peaceful. Co-existence among differing social characteristics among the island inhabitants must be seen as a virtue that need to be legally supported so that the benefits that would result from oil drilling do not distort harmony that has been key among the Tagg community. Conclusion Population diversification has long been adopted by countries that have embraced the concept of globalisation. Although numerous challenges have been experienced as a result of the diversification, benefits achieved cannot be ignored. Countries have opened up their boundaries for trade and technological development. Furthermore, social ties are have been established and strengthened as a result of diversification. As people of different backgrounds mingle, there is a possibility of learning from each other, appreciating the differences and hence enhancing peace. Tagg Island has to keep up to the trends taken by other societies in embracing population diversification and establishing the associated structures. Furthermore, the island is not self sufficient in itself since it seemingly has not noticed of the oil resources that it possesses and which could improve the lives of its citizens (Roy Sideras, 2006). Since the council of Tagg Island may be lacking in legal expertise, this report strongly recommends hiring of legal experts to assist in drafting diversification laws. In addition, the council may consider involving the aliens intending to drill oil so as to tailor their aspects of relationships accordingly. Nathaniel Hawthorne :: essays research papers

Nathaniel Hawthorne (July 4, 1804 – May 19, 1864) was a 19th century American novelist and short story writer. He was born in Salem, Massachusetts and died in Plymouth, New Hampshire. Hawthorne's father was a sea captain and descendant of John Hathorne, one of the judges who oversaw the Salem Witch Trials. Hawthorne's father died at sea in 1808, when Hawthorne was only four years old, and Nathaniel was raised secluded from the world by his mother. Hawthorne attended Bowdoin College in Maine from 1821–1824 where he became friends with Longfellow and future president Franklin Pierce. In 1842, he married illustrator and transcendentalist Sophia Peabody, and the two moved to The Old Manse in Concord, Massachusetts, where they lived for three years. Later they moved to The Wayside, previously a home of the Alcotts. Their neighbors in Concord included Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau. Like Hawthorne, Sophia was a reclusive person. She was, in fact, bedridden with headaches until her sister introduced her to Hawthorne, after which her headaches seem to have abated. The Hawthornes enjoyed a long marriage, and Sophia was greatly enamored with her husband's work. In one of her journals, she writes: "I am always so dazzled and bewildered with the richness, the depth, the... jewels of beauty in his productions that I am always looking forward to a second reading where I can ponder and muse and fully take in the miraculous wealth of thoughts" (Jan 14th 1951, Journal of Sophia Hawthorne. Berg Collection NY Public Library). The two had three children: Una, Julian, and Rose. Una suffered from mental illness and died young. Julian moved out west and wrote a book about his father. Rose converted to Roman Catholicism and took her vows as a Dominican nun. She founded a religious order to care for victims of cancer. Hawthorne died on May 19, 1864 in Plymouth, N.H. on a trip to the mountains with his friend Franklin Pierce. Hawthorne is best-known today for his many short stories (he called them "tales") and his four major romances of 1850–60: The Scarlet Letter (1850), The House of the Seven Gables (1851), The Blithedale Romance (1852), and The Marble Faun (1860). (Another book-length romance, Fanshawe, was published anonymously in 1828.) Before publishing his first collection of tales in 1837, Hawthorne wrote scores of short stories and sketches, publishing them anonymously or pseudonymously in periodicals such as The New-England Magazine and The United States Democratic Review.

The steps of a strategic learning process

Benjamin Franklin once said, â€Å"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. I involve me and I learn†. It shows the importance of learning and education. Knowledge is the only thing in the world that can be forever kept and so we understand the importance of the learning. To achieve learning and/or a desired goal, you must be ready to practice, be motivated, and have proper exposure to every detail of the course content. There is not any existence of life without the process of learning.Readers shall acquire skill through the principles of learning and their use in the school, in this essay. In order to fully comprehend the information learned, practicing and reviewing is crucial. By practicing and reviewing course content, the success of understanding the information will be within arm’s reach. Being able to understand the information will be useful when writing tests or quizzes by allowing memorization of the content. Repeating words or sentences from lessons or homework, is one way to move information from short term to long term memory.As well redoing math problems or homework, which is a great way to better recognize how something is done, or should be done after getting the wrong answer. In addition reviewing notes or homework with a buddy can improve the knowledge of the subject, by having a buddy show the correct answer to the questions or notes that were wrong. Finally the last way of being able to fully understand what has been taught is by reducing the amount of notes taken. Decreasing the size of notes taken can help long term memory skills by reviewing less, and giving the most important information needed.Through having the most important information memorized, for tests or quizzes, this will allow for easy recollection of material learned and will give the correct answer. In conclusion by following the practicing and reviewing methods given, it will ensure full comprehension of the information learned. Motivation is a big fact or in student success because motivation drives us to do many things not only at school but at home as well. Motivation can help us succeed at school because it can drive us to take that extra mile in anything we choose.An example of this is if you’re in English class and asked to write a minimum of 3 paragraphs. While most people will do 3 paragraphs, a motivated person will write 5 paragraphs and earn a 90% instead of an 80%. Motivation can be used at home also. An example is if you have a test coming up but don’t want to review until the day before the test. Although this is common for many people, a motivated person will review their notes several days before the test.This is because that person is motivated to be successful and they know that by sacrificing a couple hours each day, they have a greater chance at being a successful student. It’s a fact that students who attend school regularly learn more and are more successful in school than students who do not. People who attend school regularly learn to accept responsibility, an important lesson for a successful life. People who develop good attendance habits in the early grades will be more likely to continue them throughout their school career, as well as into their chosen career.Regular attendance is critically important, because students who miss school miss out on the exposure of course content. As a result, the student is more likely to fall behind, and miss important socialization concepts that enhance the ability to understand and follow directions or, ultimately, plan for the future. Just by being present at school, the student is learning how to be a good citizen by participating in the school community, learning valuable social skills, and developing a broader world view. Learning social skills is just as important as learning history, math, science, and English.To summarize, in order to achieve learning and/or a desired goal, a student must be ready to practice, be motiva ted, and have proper exposure to every detail of the course content in order to be successful in achieving the best process of learning. Slumdog Millionaire A Broken Mirror Essay - 1280 Words

â€Å"The eyes are the mirror of the soul† is an old proverb that possesses a mystifying truth. Often times one can look into another person’s eyes and determine if a person is content or angry, inquisitive or confused, or even reputable or malevolent. A few people, however, can look into a mirror, or even at others, and see someone other than the true person standing in front of him. Salim, a character from the movie Slumdog Millionaire is portrayed as one of the â€Å"bad guys,† and rightfully so because of his actions towards his brother, Jamal, and others. Similarly to Salim, Amir, a character from the book The Kite Runner, also betrays his brother multiple times when he is in need of guidance. He has the opportunity to choose to save himself, gain women and money, and become a â€Å"real† man (Slumdog). Instead, he chooses to save Jamal. Even though his decency is not always visible, deep down Salim proves to gain a heart for salvation. Similarly to Salim, Amir surrenders his power when he travels back to Afghanistan. Although he is hesitant at first, he travels to an orphanage seeking deliverance. His journey there is not only for himself, but because â€Å"true redemption is when guilt leads to good† (Hosseini 302). Salim, too, feels guilty for his actions or otherwise he would not have saved his brother from danger in order to gain redemption from Jamal, others, and God. During the movie, a viewer witnesses Salim praying. This may seem irrelevant due to his inexcusable actions; while that is true, his search for acquittal from God confirms how he truly views himself. He prays because he knows the difference between right and wrong; therefore, validating his morality. Even though he has a perspective on morali ty, Salim, more often than not, chooses the ways of the wicked which can confirm his title as a â€Å"bad guy.† Even Maman, tells Salim that â€Å"[Salim’s] destiny is in [Salim’s] hands.
